Living Room Ideas...

The 'living room' is dubbed as such because this is by far the most utilized areas within a home in terms of communal spaces, and often the most viewed...as such the needs and demand of such a space must incorporate function, comfort, wear & tear...So how do we achieve all  this without compromising the design element?
Choose warm and inviting colours to accentuate the living space that exude comfort, coziness and infuse warmth in the overall ambiance.

A great way to change the dynamics of a room is by adding a bold colour to a feature wall and thereafter incorporating the same colour scheme in accents and accessories to create flow and continuity...

Its important that when choosing furnishings that each piece lends itself to the next...i.e. there is consistency of design.

Always choose fabrics and/ or a colour scheme that you can maintain overtime...

Its important to choose the ideal sofa(s) for your space in terms of comfort, size and durability according to your functional needs...its imperative that the size of seating not overwhelm the space.

In choosing curtains ensure that drapes maintain full gathers and flow through to the floor skirting/ boards...however aesthetically pleasing this may turn out to be, its equally  important that the same drapes can be easily pulled back to allow the natural light to infiltrate the room.

If a living space has flooring of a dark nature and/or a tiled finish...the cold, sleek surface look may be warmed with a textured rug. Additionally to balance the room, the soft furnishings would have to use lighter colour tones to create harmony...

Create a free flowing space with seating that allows clean movement throughout the room...adding a centered ottoman instead of the classic coffee table creates a softer moveable setting...

Using classic cushions adds a splash of colour and continuity in the overall colour scheme...

Feature walls can take on bold colours and may be further enhanced with a classic wall murel...

Sleek contemporary design surfaces can be greatly enhanced by adding a textured rug...

Storage and entertainment consoles should serve both functional and the aesthetic needs within your creative living space...

Classic wood floors add both elegance and a cozy feeling to any room...adding carpeting creates an distinct feeling of homeliness which genders comfort and warmth.

Polished wooden floors whether in dark or lighter tones create a wonderful base from which a rich inviting colour scheme may be derived to create ambiance...

Different carpeting may be used to demarcate areas or 'islands' within your living space

Feature walls in a 'vertical striped' design may be used to present the colour scheme of a room and enhance the overall design motif of a creative living space...
